I survived two days in a Ford Expedition with my parents, aunt, and uncle as we drove around Iowa and Missouri. And somehow I consumed my weight in Crunchy Cheetos but I came home at the same weight as when I left.
That's me shoved in the way back with all the luggage. Sadly that is a plastic pin full of fake floral arrangements and not a margarita maker.

12 Days of Christmas CrossFit Kilo Style
This morning I had the pleasure of celebrating the 12 Days of Christmas CrossFit Kilo style. I commandeered the rental vehicle for the drive up to Cedar Falls and I remembered how much I love me a Tahoe. It was about a 40-minute drive but totally worth it.

Casual Jog to Walmart
Greetings from Centerville, Iowa! Right now I'm at a Super 8 for the night on a small road trip down to Missouri and back. This morning I was in Independence, Iowa, where my grandma lives, and where my amazing friend Jacqie will be getting married this weekend. Eeek!
Anyway, since I have a bridesmaid dress to fit into this weekend, I went for a casual run around town. My knee was killing me on my flight yesterday and I swear it felt like it was trying to get out of my leg by any means necessary. Thankfully I was able to keep a nice consistent pace going today for my 3.52 mile excursion.
I recently went to the Champion store at the Tanger Outlets and picked up some sick new gear. I wore these fitted bike shorts, performance tank, and sports bra today for a test run and I love them.
I was greeted at the back door my the little cat. His name is Alex and he's actually huge, but his brother Alvin is even bigger, which is why we call him the little one.

These shorts are great because they are on the longer side and they stay where they are. I hate when my shorts ride up my ass making me look like a hoochie mama and then I spend the entire run picking a wedgie. I think these are perfect for my 50 mile bike ride next month.
The fushia sports bra is the same C9 by Champion sports bra I always wear but in a better color. The tank is performance material and the back is mesh. I am a big fan but I think it could stay in place a bit better. I'm also rocking a sick pinot grigio gut so that might have something to do with it. On a side note, my mother says I am looking slimmer these days.
I ran from my grandma's house to the Walmart, cut through the parking lot, and then ran down the highway and back through town. I'm okay with my pace for each mile because I was really just trying to shake my legs out.
I saw this couple on the way to Wally World. One day I hope I have someone who will walk along my Jazzy. Although, to be honest, I'll probably be running circles around the Jazzy, but I hope to have someone who will scoot along beside me. Taking applications at inshapeoutofmind@gmail.com.

Tri-Terrain Independence Run
I'm finally home! (And by home, I mean at my parents' house, duh.) We drove from Independence, Iowa to Chicago, and got in early for our flight... which was delayed. Uh oh. We spent twelve hours en route and about four of those at the Chicago-O'Hare airport.
I woke up around 7:30 to get in a short run before we left for Chicago.
Distance: 3.02 miles
Time: 29:28
Super conveniently, my grandmother lives right near a middle school that has a trail and a track. Hence today's title: I ran on road, trail, and track and I only ran 3 miles!
I distinctly remember the Liberty Trail being longer as a child. One reason might be that I have distorted childhood memories, or the trail has become overgrown and the "path" I imagined I saw through the fallen tree limbs was real. I'm leaning towards the latter.
This is my attempt at artistic photography. I was actually really tempted to run down into these people's yard and play with tire swing.
I found some prairie grasses growing at the school. Obviously this lead me to crouch down next to them and take pictures of myself. Sometimes I think I need help. Like honestly, imagine you are a middle-school aged child headed over to your school's track or playground, and you catch sight of this whacked out 25 year-old in spandex pants hiding in the prairie grass taking pictures of herself.
Buchanan County has the Prairies to Schools program. To learn more about this program, go here. I promise no prairie grasses were damaged in my photo shoot.

| The bridge was slick but I managed not to slip. |
Eventually I ran out of trail, so I turned back and headed over to the West Side School's track.
Go Mustangs!
I ran around it three times but I was more focused on photo opportunities and the waffles my grandma was going to make for breakfast than my workout.
