About Me

My photo
My excessive energy, extreme narcissism, and intense love of neon-colored spandex is both managed and fueled by my addiction to fitness. I push myself to extremes and I push other people's buttons. Obviously I needed my own blog.

Dogs and Diet

I mean nothing to them if the boyfriend is over.
Poor Frank is on a diet. I increased the amount of kibble he ate when he went to daycare on a regular basis and neglected to reduce his food now that he spends more time at home with Daisy Mae. I love my chunky monkey, but I don't want him to hurt his back or joints so he's getting less kibble. But don't feel too bad for him. He is getting treats more often to reinforce good behavior, and I've been using my work breaks to play fetch and chase with both of my little couch terrorists.

Daisy Mae has proven herself to be a badass CrossFit dog. She barks cheers for anyone who passes her and was able to drag a 54# kettlebell a few inches in an effort to get more attention.

Finding What You Love

In January 2013, I couldn't imagine having the life that I have now. With the exception of my family, I didn't love anything, except maybe for cigarettes. I still love (and hate) cigarettes, but that's another post. I didn't even love my family well because I was unhappy and blinded by my unhappiness and I loved selfishly. But then I finally worked up the courage to go to CrossFit.

CrossFit taught me how to be a human being with feelings. It taught me how to be a member of a community. It taught me how to love others. And then I got my dog Frank and I realized that as much as I love my fellow CrossFitters, I love dogs more than all humans. Especially rescue dogs. Especially rescue dachshunds.

My social media newsfeeds are literally all CrossFit, macro-counting inspiration, rescue dogs, and dachshund memes. Basically my whole dream in life is to live in a house large enough to hold an epic home gym and 17 rescue dogs. If you need me, I will be practicing muscle ups (hey, it's my dream life) on my rig in the backyard with all of my dogs running around in the sunshine. Now I just need to figure out how to finance this dream.

An oldie but a goodie. How cute does he look in his little coat?

The Open is coming and the CrossFit Media team has been busy posting inspirational stories about everyday CrossFitters who push themselves every year in this worldwide competition. I love the Open so damn much. It is the most wonderful time of the year and celebrates the community. I'm so thankful that I found something that makes me this happy. I am so excited to have a semi-regular schedule again that allows me to renew my unlimited membership at CFID.

My hope for everyone is to find what you love because that's where we find happiness - by building it ourselves. Maybe CrossFit is not for you (I actually firmly believe CrossFit is for everyone, even if you're not ready to let it into your life just yet), but you get out there and find something that brings you joy, pushes you to be the best version of yourself, and allows you to find purpose. I now know that my purpose it to always Rx the cheer and be the best mom to Frank (and the other 16 dogs I am getting once I become the owner of the world's first dog rescue gym.)

Greetings From New York

I am back in New York visiting my family and enjoying a pseudo vacation. I'm working on a few projects but otherwise I'm free to chillax with Frank and harass my relatives into taking photos of me.

I accidentally had my Fabletics outfits sent to my parents' house. This is the Highway 74 outfit and I love the mesh palm tee shirt and the white sports bra. The Dili shorts are cool because they have little tabs to tighten the sides.

Life Lately

I tweaked my back something fierce a couple of weeks ago and I've been taking it easy easier and focusing on getting back in tip top shape. That means less CrossFit, more walks, and some quality time with Frank since I got back from Phoenix last week.

reunited and it feels so good

The Fitbit Challenge

I'm in this Workweek Hustle Fitbit Challenge with some coworkers in offices across the country that starts on Mondays and ends on Fridays. Now we already know that Fitbit hates on CrossFit and I hate to lose. All the other people in this challenge must be running fiends because their numbers are over 10,000 on a daily basis. So in order to compete, poor Frank has been going on a lot of walks.

This morning we went on a run in matching outfits. This is the only picture I got with him looking into the mirror so pardon its blurriness. Frank kind of sucks walking on a leash, but he's turned into a pretty spectacular running partner.

Want to start your own challenge? Check out the instructions from Help at Fitbit.com
  • Tap the Challenges tab.
  • Tap the challenge you would like to start.
  • Tap Start Your Own.
  • Tap the friends whom you would like to invite to the challenge, then tap Start in the top right corner. You're not required to invite friends, meaning you can run a challenge with yourself as the only participant.

Frank

If you follow me on Instagram (ech_e_sketch) then you probably know that I recently adopted a dog. Frank is my dachshund mix and he's absolutely perfect. Frank was rescued and fostered by the wonderful people at GetALong Dachshund Rescue.

Frank loves sleeping in the big bed. Not sure how he's going to react to Ryan coming to visit.
